On Shannon and Cammie
I want to start off by saying thank you to Shannon and Cammie. I had only recently started to follow them, and I was just so inspired by them. The love they had, and hopefully still have (even if not romantic anymore), for each other has made a big impact in my life.
Over the past couple of years, I have been in the process of figuring out and exploring my sexuality. This has been difficult especially because of my Catholic background. The first time I liked a girl, I thought it was a phase and I was constantly trying to change myself. I felt guilty for being me. It has been three years ever since the first time I liked a girl, and I’m barely now accepting the fact that I do, just like I like boys, like girls. Unfortunately, I am not out yet. I’ve only told a few people, and as of the time I post this, also the rest of the Internet.
The point that I’m trying to get at, is that before I started watching lesbian couples on YouTube, I thought that the part of me that likes girls was bad. Then one day, I came across this couple, Shannon and Cammie, and they changed my life. Their story together, as well as their individual stories, have changed my life for the better. When I saw them together, it made me realize that it’s okay if I like girls because if two people love each other, why should it be looked down on just because they’re both girls? When I first watched them, it made me so happy because it gave me a hope that I will find a person who can make me as happy and they were in the videos, whether it be a girl or a guy. Watching them just made me realize that love is love. They helped me accept myself and be excited for my future. Me from two years ago would be feeling guilty for my feelings and for being who I am. Watching the relationship that Cammie and Shannon had, helped open my eyes and accept the fact that this is me, and I choose to be happy. There are no limitations to love.
So I just want to thank both Shannon and Cammie for sharing your stories and relationship with the world. Both of you guys have changed my life and I won’t ever be able to thank either of you enough. I know that your relationship has come to an end, but I just really need to thank you guys for sharing it in the first place. It means so much to me. I wish you guys the best. I will continue to support both of you no matter what you choose to do. I am saddened that it’s over, but I’m glad that you guys are doing what’s best for your individual selves. You guys have done so much for the LGBT community together, but now I’m glad you guys are taking a step back to do what’s best for you guys, even if it’s separate. Only you two know what’s best for you two. None of us can judge either of you. It’s you guys’ relationship and you guys are the only ones that really have opinions that matter when it comes down to it.
I don’t know if I’ll be coming out anytime soon, but this is the first time I’ve actually accepted myself. You guys showed me that love knows no boundaries. It’s because of you guys, now I’m fine with the fact that I may fall in love with a girl. I don’t feel guilty for being me because love is love. Anyways, I’m just here to say thank you for sharing your love. It may have ended, but the impact it made still lives on.

what she means: shannon and cammie broke up after 3 and a half years. love is weakness. we will never hear “hey guys my name is shannon and THIS is my beautiful girlfriend cammie!” again. just a few days ago they were happy and smiling at eachother in a collab. what is going to happen to their youtube channels? we may have to watch not one but two videos of each of them explaining what happened and seeing how they act differently without each other. what will happen to ripple effect? will all of their couple pictures be deleted from their instagram? where is cammie going to live? will they still be friends? are they happy?
